The Kid Conundrum

Whether you have a toddler, teenager, or somewhere in between, children create their own organizational challenges.

The first thing I ask any client who is a parent, is how involved they are in the toy clean up, and how involved they want to continue being. If you have a toddler who’s just learning to pick up their toys the overall structure needs to be different than if you have a twelve-year-old who is able to pick up after themself.

The second thing to consider is WHERE the majority of the toys are. Do you have a large playroom that can hold lots of toys and needs a more complex system, or do you have a small home where the toys are competing for general living space?

And, if you have older children, how much privacy/personal responsibility do they have? Do you check your 15-year-old’s room every night to make sure they put their clothes away, or are you just happy if there are no dirty dishes in there?

These are all things I take into consideration when doing my initial consultation.
